It is one of the most decentralised islands with larger cities spread all across. Parikia being the port of your disemberkation it is not the only option to spend your holiday in. Piso Livadi, Naoussa and Aliki are just few of other larger villages with stunning beaches. Historically known for now abandoned white marble quarries, it has enough sights for an all-day sighting trip.

Due to seldomer bus connections, our sight-seeing began in Parikia. Windmills here and there are a classic for Cyclades, while Athina Temple and Frankish Castle are more interesting to see. In the evening we took a bus to Aliki (1,80 €) to meet our friendly host Marina. We were very satisfied with the spacious apartment with a very usable and nicely equipped kitchen. Furthermore, there was a private balcony and a shared terrace, all in a sound environment.
Holidays in Paros
The closest beach was 2 min away with a supermarket next to it. Would you prefer a rocky beach, continue through the city for another 10 min.
One day we decided for an all-day trip around the island. Daily bus tickets are available (9 €) – but they can only be bought in Parikia and Naoussa –, so you can hop-on, hop-off on tourist destinations. Generally, you have around 90–120 min per destination if you plan to visit all of them.
The captial of Paros offers the most as expected. Whether you like to swim or explore the ruins from past – you just need to have time in Parikia. We opted for the cultural and archeological side and visited Frankish Castle, which was built from destructed Athina Temple in the end of 14th century. There is also a great view over Parikia from Athina Temple. Next to the park is located Panagia Ekatontapiliani – church very much worth a visit.
Gourmets can enjoy the wine tasting experience of Moratis Winery.

There are many beaches available – choose which suites you best. Sandy or rocky, all offer clean and not-too-shallow water to swim in.
We swam at Aliki beach, which was only 2 min away, but there are many other beaches on the island such as famous Golden Beach and Punda Beach.

Naoussa is the second largest city on the island (we know that because they have an office for bus tickets). In the past, there was a port and remnants are still seen in the old part of the city. Expect colourful boats next to the Venetian Castle. Continue through Agii Anargyri Beach to reach Thinking Rocks (or, as we called them, Contemplating life choices Rocks). Then hurry back to catch your bus!

With Punda Beach and Golden Beach, Piso Livadi is a place where beach-lovers are accomodated. A small quiet town with its port and narrow streets is an ideal stop for an hour between buses.
As the sun was reaching its peak, we made a stop at Punda Beach to refresh ourselves. There is hardly any shade and beach clubs are occupying the majority of the beach but water is refreshing.
Be aware that the beach is 10 min away from bus station so if you like to be ready to hop-on bus faster maybe consider the Paralia Logaras.
Tip: Bring a bottle of tap water to "shower" yourself.

The name "Drios" might remind you of "Brios", the Russian "Briošky" dessert! They are not sold there, but fig trees are planted around roads. Figs were, luckily, ripe and mouth-wateringly tasty. No-one actually picks them so feel free to prevent them from rotting. Not all streets down the slope lead to the sea however! Some end up on private driveways. Check your maps.

Being isolated in the middle of the island, Lefkes has preserved its beauty surprisingly well. Beautiful Mykonos-like narrow streets with shiny white-bordered rocks and glorious church Agia Triada. It is a must to visit this gem.
